Safety and Training Policy IMPORTANT

Rowing SA has restructured its Safety and Training Policy to make it easier for members, coaches, and clubs to find and stay current with the safety information relevant to them. The policy is now supported by a series of separate appendices, each addressing a specific area — including participant safety requirements, emergency contacts and management plans, incident reporting, weather and environmental conditions, boat lighting, and venue-specific conditions at West Lakes.

The restructured 2026-2027 Safety and Training Policy and its supporting documents are available below.

Why was the Policy restructured? The 2025–26 Policy was a single reference document, but it mixed governance material (roles and legislation) together with operational detail (course maps, emergency contacts, permit conditions) in the one file. Any small update required reissuing and re-approving the whole Policy. The 2026–27 restructure separates the two — the core Policy sets out the principles, roles, and legislative obligations, while the appendices carry the detail that can change more often. Appendices can be reviewed and amended by Rowing SA between full Policy reviews, which is why several are marked “amended July 2026” or “under review” even though the core Policy itself was approved by the Board on 23 June 2026.
