Club Rowing
Rowing South Australia’s member clubs are the heart of our sport – welcoming rowers of every age and background, from complete beginners to Olympians. Whether you’re after a fun, social way to get fit, a competitive pathway through junior and senior ranks, or a masters crew to reconnect with the water later in life, there’s a club ready to take you on.
Our clubs are based across metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia, on waterways including West Lakes, the Torrens, the Murray River and Adelaide’s coast. Each club has its own character, but all share the same commitment to safe, well-coached, inclusive rowing.
New to rowing? Come and try it.
Most of our clubs run free, no-obligation “come and try” sessions throughout the year for newcomers of all ages – you don’t need any experience or your own equipment to give it a go. It’s the easiest way to find out what club rowing is really like before committing to a season of membership.
Learning to row is a great way to push yourself, get fit, and expand an entirely new skill set. There have been many studies that show participation in outdoors physical activity to be extremely beneficial to mental health. The action itself is low impact, therefore those with common knee or ankle injuries generally find this is a movement which promotes strength and rehabilitation, while allowing the participant to push themselves aerobically. Currently our oldest active member of the Rowing community has just turned 94 – and he is still racing! This means that there is no age limit to those wanting to give it a try.

Rowing SA does not hold a specific learn to row program, as many of our affiliated clubs have programs targeted at all different ages and abilities. Clubs currently offering a learn to row program are marked with a green badge below.
Come-and-try sessions and start dates vary from club to club, so the best way to find out what’s on near you is to contact your nearest club directly using the details below, or get in touch with the Rowing SA office and we’ll point you in the right direction.
