National Integrity Framework (NIF)
Rowing South Australia (Rowing SA) is bound by the National Integrity Framework (NIF), which commenced on 1 July 2022 and applies to Rowing Australia and all Member Associations.
The National Integrity Framework establishes nationally consistent standards for conduct in rowing and sets out the expectations of all Participants, including athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, administrators and support personnel. It also outlines the processes for reporting, assessing, investigating and determining alleged breaches of the Integrity Policies.
The NIF is administered independently by Sport Integrity Australia and includes policies covering:
- ✓Safeguarding Children and Young People
- ✓Member Protection
- ✓Improper Use of Drugs and Medicine
- ✓Competition Manipulation and Sport Gambling
- ✓Complaints, Disputes and Discipline
All Participants in rowing, in South Australia, are required to comply with the National Integrity Framework and its associated policies.
Incidents that occurred on or after 1 July 2022 are managed under the National Integrity Framework. Matters occurring prior to this date are addressed under the relevant policy framework in place at the time, including the former Member Protection Policy.
Where a matter falls outside the scope of the National Integrity Framework, it may be managed under applicable Rowing SA policies or relevant South Australian legislation.
The Member Protection Policy applies to all participants, including those aged 18 years and over, and addresses discrimination, bullying, harassment, sexual misconduct, victimisation and other inappropriate behaviour.
The Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy applies to all participants and is specifically designed to protect children and young people under 18 years of age from abuse, misconduct and harm.
For further information regarding the National Integrity Framework and reporting processes, Participants should refer to the Rowing Australia website or Sport Integrity Australia.

What the NIF does not help with
The NIF doesn’t manage allegations of misconduct about:
- ✕Bullying, abuse or harassment of adults
- ✕Team or representative selection disputes
- ✕Organisational governance or employment issues
- ✕Disputes that occur in the field of play
- ✕A complaint already managed or decision made by sport
- ✕Sports that have not implemented the National Integrity Framework, or any conduct that occurred before your sport’s commencement date of the NIF
If you report these matters to us, they cannot investigate or manage the matter through a complaints process.
