Dear SA rowing Clubs, Schools and supporters,
More good news for rowing in SA! See attached front page of The Advertiser today.
Following on from the decision to relocate the AMRC to Adelaide, Rowing Australia has made the decision due to the continuing water quality issues at SIRC and with no certainty as to when SIRC will be re-opened for on water activities that the World Cup 3 Replica Regatta will be relocated to West Lakes, Adelaide.
The Senior team will arrive in Adelaide on Monday 7 June (the Para team will arrive on Sunday 6 June), racing will be on Thursday 10 – Saturday 12 June and the Official AOC Team Announcement will be held on Sunday 13 June with an informal lunch for the athletes and their families to round out the weeklong stay in Adelaide. RA will be conducting a similar event for the Para Team on Monday 12 July when the Paralympic Rowing team will be announced at Penrith.
This Regatta will see all three selected Underage Teams racing against the Senior Team along with dedicated Para Team events. RSA is working closely with RA to determine their requirements and how our schools, clubs and supporters can be involved during their stay in Adelaide. This opportunity is likely to never come up again as the Australian Team will normally be overseas in the lead up to the Olympics and Paralympics. What an amazing opportunity for our SA rowing community to see the Olympic crews and Australian Teams training and racing at West Lakes. There is a lot of discussion needed with RA over the coming week to determine how we can maximise their engagement with you all while in Adelaide, so watch this space!
