Please find below important information and updates for the 2021 SA State Championships. I know there is a bit there but please read thoroughly and distribute to any members of your club/school as required.
Host Club and Volunteers
The Saturday of the State Championships is hosted by Seymour College and Sunday of the State Championships is hosted by Loreto College. We would like to thank Seymour and Loreto and the members, parents, and supporters of these rowing programs for their assistance in running the 2021 SA State Championships. Both schools will have food available for sale from their tents of the Rowing SA Lawns on their respective host days.
Registration for Essential & Support Staff
Please find attached the surveymonkey link for the registration of your essential and support staff for each day of the SA State Championships. I will also send this link in another email without all the additional information.

2021 SA State Championships – DAY 2 – https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CBDD2PP
Each School and Clubs may have up to 4 Essential Staff, up to 4 Support Staff per session, and all required coaches. These individuals may change from session to session but are not permitted to be on site for a session they are not registered for.
Please complete the registration form by 1:00pm, Friday, February 26th.
Coaches and Athletes must be registered via Rowing Manager and be entered in their correct events (coaches included).
Wristbands will be issued to all Coaches, Registered Support Staff and Essential Staff. You must collect these from Regatta Control prior to the regatta.
Please also be advised all attendees at the event over the age of 18 must check in using the SA Government QR code that will be positioned around the venue and provided with your wristbands.
The final draw is attached. Please check this carefully as there have been some significant changes in some events, timings, and progressions due to withdrawals.
The following events have been most significantly impacted – U21LW1x, OM1x, U17W1x, SG4+, SG4x+, U16W1x, U17W4x+, SG8+.
The following events are now single entry events and will be conducted as row overs as per the Regulations for Boat Racing – OLW4x, U19W2-, U21M4x. Please let me know asap if you no longer wish to participate in this event.
Please also ensure you are familiar with the progressions in all U16, U17, School Yr 9, and School Yr 10 events – these have been modified to ensure the maximum number of crews is able to progress to the finals.
Withdrawals and Crew Changes
The ‘Withdrawal without Penalty’ deadline has now lapsed.
All remaining withdrawals and scratchings will be subject to the penalties and timelines for State Championship events as stated in the Regulations for Boat Racing (section 12).
Crew changes may be completed online until Friday, 9:00am and will be available again from 5:00pm Friday and throughout the regatta.
Invitational Crews at State Championships
A reminder that Invitational Crews are not permitted in State Championship Finals. This applies to crews that have an existing entry and become ineligible.
Weigh-ins for Lightweights and Coxswains
Weigh-ins will be in place for the State Championship Regatta.
Lightweights will be required to comply with the Rowing Australia Lightweight maximum (no averaging applied). This is 72.5kg for Lightweight Men and 59.0 for Lightweight Women.
Lightweights must weigh in not less than 1 hour and not more than 2 hours before the event.
Coxswains may weigh in not less than 1 hour before the event.
Coxswains that weigh in prior to their event will not be required to weigh in again after their event, although any external weight (if carried) may be re-weighed.
Coxswains that choose not to weigh in prior to the event may be weighed in after the event at the discretion of the Boat Race Official or President of the Jury.
Presentations and Trophies
We would ask all Clubs/Schools with State Championship Trophies in their possession to please return them by Saturday morning.
Trophy and Medal presentations will be held a little differently this year due to covid safe practices.
All crews that have won a race will be required to pull in at the pontoon where they will be checked by scrutineers, athletes must then disembark and collect their medals/trophy from a table nearby and pose for photos as required. Athletes being scrutineered/collecting medals may use the pontoon to get their boat off the water.
As usual please ensure:
- Trailers are into the venue (Oarsman and Northern Reserve) by 90 minutes prior to the first race.
- Tents are not erected until 90 minutes prior to the first race.
- Tent sites are marked. Please ensure your tent and equipment remains in this space.
- Clearways are to be maintained for the movement of boats (on Oarsman Reserve AND the Northern Reserve).
- Oars are not to extend further onto the footpath that the dark grey pavers.
In addition to this please ensure boat trailers are stored as far back on the reserve (towards Military Road) as possible. Please also ensure all oars, riggers and equipment is stored with consideration to all other clubs and athletes.
A site map is attached. This indicates the area considered the ‘event area’ for this regatta.
A drop off/pick up zone will be in place on Military Road (adjacent the boatsheds).
Warm Up Area
A warm up area will be provided. This will be outside with spacing between the ergos. All ergo’s must be cleaned before and after use. This will be the users responsibility.
The indoor rowing room will be closed throughout the weekend.
The RSA Pontoon will close in advance of the regatta to allow for the mooring of Officials boats.
It will remain closed to all crews boating on or off the water, with the exception of crews with accessibility needs and those being scrutineered/collecting medals.
Security will be provided overnight on Saturday night (from 6:00pm to 6:00am). All equipment is left at the owners risk. Please ensure all equipment is appropriately secured prior to leaving the venue on Saturday afternoon.
A reminder that spectators are not permitted at Rowing SA events.
