To All Clubs and Schools,
See the below for additional essential information for the weekend and have look at the checklist at the bottom of this email to ensure we have all the information we need from you (and you from us).
GENERAL HEALTH ADVICE
Whilst around the Riverland Region we would strongly encourage all members of the rowing community to follow Covid Safe practices and wear face masks where possible.
Please remember to be sunsmart and remain hydrated throughout the weekend as it is likely to be warm on the Friday and Saturday especially.
Please also take measures to protect against mosquitos, and mosquito-borne diseases, which are likely to be more active this year due to recent favourable weather conditions. Please refer to the SA Health Website for further information https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/wps/wcm/connect/public+content/sa+health+internet/healthy+living/protecting+your+health/yourself/fight+the+bite/mosquito+borne+disease+explained
ARRIVAL, SITE SET UP, BOAT RACKING, AND TENTS
There will be a few additional restrictions in place this year in line with our COVID management obligations. One of these will be a more structured approach to the allocation of tents and tent sites.
Can all clubs who require a tent on site at the Berri Regatta please reply to this email with the preferred number of tents you would like to set up by 1:00pm Thursday afternoon. We can not guarantee that all tents will be accommodated. Thank you to those clubs that have already provided this information.
Boats and Tents may not be unloaded/erected at the venue until 1:00pm Friday.
There will be limited access to boat racks. All clubs should keep small boats, and any boats that will be used sparingly on their boat trailers.
There will be additional room for boat trailers and boats on trestles within the event fence line this year.
We will release a Venue Site Map tomorrow evening. Please refer to this prior to arrival.
COURSE MAPS AND RULES
As usual the launching and landing areas will be very busy. These areas must be kept clear of oars at all times. Crews must be prepared to launch/land in 1 minute and are encouraged to have coaches/supports/athletes on hand to distribute/collect oars for the crew.
It is expected all crews and coaches will ensure that everything required to race is brought down with the boat at the time of launching (i.e seats, drink bottles, stroke coaches).
Crews must be at the start line and ready to race 5 minutes before the designated start time or risk missing their start.
Races will not be held for crews that are late to the start area.
SPECTATORS AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL ATTENDEES
We have now received approval for our COVID Management Plan for this weekends Riverland Regatta and 2nd Grade State Championships. As such we will be permitted to have up to 2000 people at the venue and will no longer need to pursue proportional ticketing. However, there are conditions that all attendees must adhere to in line with our COVID Management Plan and to allow for the orderly management of attendance at the regatta. Please see the attached Entry Requirements document and ensure all attendees are familiar with the requirements.
We encourage the use of face masks whilst at the venue and will be giving away a $30 Bunnings Voucher each day to the best dressed/most colourful face mask of the regatta.
Athletes, Coaches, and Essential Staff – These individuals should either be registered on Rowing Manager and entered in an event (coaches and athletes), registered on the survey monkey link (essential staff – see link here https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/T8TYLVW), or have been directly emailed to myself.
All individuals registered through one of the above processes will be provided with an event wristband that must be worn when entering/exiting the venue and when not competing.
Clubs and Schools can collect their wristbands from the venue between 1:00pm and 4:00pm Friday, or please email me to arrange an alternate time.
There will also be a few other changes in place this year that you may need to be aware of, or communicate to athletes, coaches, supporters
As part of our COVID Management Plan the venue will be fully fenced. There will be a single entry point monitored by security.
Much of the area usually used for car parking will be included within the fence limits. As such there will be very limited car parking at near the venue (this will be available for tow vehicles and essential vehicles only. Other attendees are encouraged to park back on the sealed roads towards Berri.
Physical paper programs will not be available at the venue. All attendees and supporters are encouraged to print and bring their own or use the public rowing manager site for all information. This can be round at https://sa.rowingmanager.com/ for the web page, or https://sa.rowingmanager.com/mobile/regatta/5076 for the mobile site.
Substitutions and Withdrawals will be available online. All clubs and schools should ensure they have someone on site at all times that has administrative access to Rowing Manager.
Berri Rowing Club and the 2020 Riverland Regatta and State Championships are extremely fortunate have a number of sponsors in and around the Riverland region.
