Dear Clubs and Schools,

Thank you for your assistance and patience in awaiting final direction regarding the Berri Regatta. We have as of this morning received confirmation from SA Health that our COVID Management Plan for the Berri Regatta this weekend has been approved. This now allows the event to have a maximum of 2,000 people in attendance at any one time, which means that all athletes, coaches, staff and spectators can access the event freely throughout the regatta. This creates an ease on how the event entry operates, however all other health and safety procedures remain unchanged. Further information on the entry procedure and all final communications will be sent by Bec Lannan tonight.

As we head up to Berri this week, it is essential that we all abide by the health restrictions as there are some concerns from locals in the Riverland with the event going ahead in the current COVID climate. We will be on show to the community and it would be greatly appreciated if you can pass this reminder on to your community. The local Council, SA Health and many local residents do support the event going ahead.

One final clarification from me is in regards to the directions given by COVID Marshals at the regatta. COVID Marshals will support the health and safety behavior of all patrons at the event and it is an entry requirement that all patrons follow their guidance. There are a couple of items to point out from the new Directions that came into effect on Tuesday:

  • Athletes do not need to social distance while they are playing sport, but will need to when off the water/not competing.
  • Students do not need to social distance while competing or off the water as they ‘regularly associate with each other’ through involvement in the same school community. The physical distancing principle does not apply to persons who live in the same household, or who are friends, family members or people who otherwise regularly associate with each other, or in circumstances specified under a provision of Part 4 of the Directions.

I look forward to seeing those attending the regatta on the weekend.
