Information for 4.8km Time Trial Regatta & Junior Regatta #1
Date of Birth
Hi All,   This weekend we will be holding back to back regattas at West Lakes – the 4.8km Time Trial Regatta, followed by the first of the Junior Regattas held over 1000m. Both events will run in accordance with Rowing SA’s “COVID Safe Plan for Rowing SA Regattas”. As such, spectators will not be permitted at the regatta venue – raceclocker will be in use for the 4.8km Time Trial Regatta to allow supporters to track their crews progress live. The link for this will be provided shortly and will be accessible from Rowing Manager. Also in accordance with the plan - participants from the Time Trial Regatta will be expected to vacate the site immediately after the conclusion of their event. Participants in the Junior Regatta are not permitted on site more than 90 minutes prior to their event.   Please see the following important information regarding COVID requirements and staff/supporters registration, site alterations, course maps, regatta information, and volunteers.   Volunteers As unhosted regattas we are seeking assistance from the community to run these events. For the 4.8km Time Trial we are seeking: -          5x Boat Drivers (Boat Licence preferable by not essential) -          4x Timing Assistants (to assist with live timing on the course – these individuals should have access to a working phone with internet, reasonable eye sight, and some familiarity with boat type/bow numbers) These individuals will not be counted as part of a school/clubs essential or support staff allocation and would be required from approximately 8:00am – 11:00am. Please pass this information on to any interested individuals and send me through their name and email address.   Site Alterations -          A Drop Off/Pick Up Zone will be in place on Military Road in front of the boatshed for the duration of both events. -          Team Tents may only be erected on the Southern end of Oarsman Reserve past the boat ramp, or on the Northern edge of the Northern Reserve. -          All tents may utilise a 6m frontage and there must be a minimum of 2m between tents belonging to different clubs/schools. -          The area around the Boat Shed Facility and on Oarsman Reserve (North of the boat ramp) is reserved for athletes, equipment, and trailers. -          The Rowing SA Lawns are available for clubs to store boats and oars on.   Essential & Support Staff Registration & Coaches Registration -          All clubs and schools are permitted 1 coach per 5 athletes, plus essential staff and 2 additional discretionary support staff. Please see the ‘Covid Safe Plan for Rowing SA Regattas’ for further information. -          Coaches must be registered on Rowing Manager and assigned to their crew. -          Essential & Support Staff must be registered via the following links by 1:00pm, Friday, October 30th: o   4.8km Time Trial Regatta - o   Junior Regatta #1 - -          Staff required at both events must appear on both forms. -          Separate wrist bands will be issued for each event – please collect these from Regatta Control.   Course Maps & Course Closures -          The RSA Course Manager has sent out the course closure notification for this weekends events. If you are not receiving these emails please contact [email protected] -          Please also find attached Course Maps for the 4.8km Time Trial – these are broken into Racing Map, Transit Area Traffic Map, Start/Finish Area Traffic Map. Due to Covid restrictions we will not be running a briefing in the morning as such it is imperative all clubs and schools go through these maps with their athletes. A briefing video will also be released on Facebook. -          Traffic management for this event will be particularly complex as all outgoing and incoming crews will need to transit across the racing course. Please see the maps for information on how this will be managed and what is expected of your crews. -          There are several 10-15 minute intervals in starts. This should create gaps in racing at the Transit Area approximately 10-15minutes after the scheduled start time. It is recommended that all crews target these gaps for launching/landing (see Final Start List – attached). -          Please also see the Transit Area Traffic Map for outgoing/incoming traffic restrictions at Oarsman Reserve, Northern Reserve, & Rowing SA Pontoon.   Regatta Information & Services -          Bow numbers will be available in bulk for each event. -          The indoor rowing room will be closed for the duration of both events. -          Online Crew Changes and Scratchings will be available throughout the day – it is highly recommended each school/club has at least 1 individual on site with Rowing Manager Administrator access.   Please pass this information on to all members of your club or school.   Kind regards,   Bec Lannan Rowing South Australia Inc
