To all Clubs and Schools,
Due to advice given to the Federal Government from Australia’s Chief Medical Officer this afternoon recommending the restriction of large non-essential public gatherings, and the official restriction coming into place on Monday, Rowing SA has made the decision to cancel tomorrow’s West Lakes Regatta. The West Lakes Regatta had approximately 1100 athletes scheduled to compete, with an expected total attendance across the day in excess of 2800 people. We would like to thank the Pembroke School Rowing Club for the work they have put in to preparations for tomorrow’s regatta.
We understand that this is a difficult and uncertain time for all involved, and our thoughts in particular are with the many athletes, coaches, and support staff that have spent many months in preparation for this period in competition.
We are awaiting decisions on the Head of the River and the Australian National Rowing Championships to be made by the bodies that govern those competitions and will keep you updated as information becomes available.
Rowing SA will also be considering the status of all remaining regattas for the 2019/20 season over the coming weeks and will make this available to the rowing community as soon as possible.
Please contact the Rowing SA Office on (08) 8242 3288 if you have any questions or require further information.
Please pass this information on to all club members and supporters.
