Please see below for some important information and updates as we head into the official start of the 2019/20 season.
All Winter Memberships have now lapsed. Athletes looking to compete in Rowing SA Events will now need an eligible Full Season/Half Season membership. As is standard, the membership will need to be applied and waiver completed prior to that athlete being entered in any Rowing SA event.
Australian Masters Games
A reminder that events for Rowing, Paddle, and Dragon Boat for the Australian Masters Games will be held at West Lakes on the 10th-12th of October. Rowing and Paddle events will be based out of the Facility here using the 1500m to the finish, whereas Dragon Boat will be based at the Trimmer Parade end of the course utilising the Start Pontoon and the first 500m of the course.
There will be Time Trials held on October 26th, November 16th (please note updated date- this will now take place prior to the Round the Island Regatta) and Friday, December 13th (this has been changed from Saturday the 14th to assist with managing the State Team Selection Events scheduled for the Saturday).
These Time Trials are open to National Team Nominees (Junior, U21, U23, Open & Para) and Senior State Team Nominees only.
The Time Trial will be split into a small boat time trial beginning at 7:00am and a big boat time trial beginning at 8:30am. The event will finish by 9:00am.
It is imperative that the course and causeway are kept clear during this time.
The 2nd Round of Regatta Host Allocations have been completed.
We are still looking for a host for Day 1 of the State Championship Regatta and are willing to offer a priority pick for regatta hosting in the 2020-21 season for any club/school willing to take it on.
Rowing SA will be seeking volunteers from each club to assist with the running of any remaining unhosted regattas, beginning with the regatta on November 9th.
This years series will be comprised of the Head of the Port on October 19th at Port Adelaide over 6.5km, the 3 Mile 8+ Race at the Murray Bridge Regatta on November 2nd over 4.8km, and the Round the Island Regatta here at West Lakes on the 16th of November over 7km. As usual these races are timed to give athletes training for the Head of the Yarra opportunities to compete over longer distances, and provide a training focus for athletes who have been putting in the long winter hours.
The Head of the Port is quickly approaching with entries closing on Monday, October 14th. Please see the attached flier for distribution to your members.
2019 Henley on Torrens
This years Henley on Torrens Regatta will be undergoing a slight format change. The regatta will be held on December 21st from early afternoon to early evening and will feature head to head knockout racing in the style of the Henley Royal Regatta. There will be 13 categories on offer, and entries will be capped at 8 per event.
