Rowing SA Staffing Update

To SA Rowing Clubs & Schools –

I write to confirm some disappointing news that some of you are aware of – Following much thought and consideration, our State Development Officer Sam Jordan has decided to make a move back to his Teaching career, commencing in a role at Pembroke School officially in Term 4.  Sam has worked in the role here at Rowing SA since May last year and a number of the initiatives he has worked on have been well-received by the Rowing community, and he will be sadly missed.  We will still see Sam around, as he is likely to be involved in Pembroke’s Rowing program at some level, and both his son’s continue to progress in their School and Club rowing programs.

I’m sure you all join me in thanking Sam for his efforts and passion for rowing, wishing him all the best as he heads back into Teaching.  Sam has handed over his key tasks to our current staff and will be finalising handover processes in the coming weeks, as I work through a re-structure and allocation of tasks to a number of people who have been working with us across various areas in recent times.  Meanwhile, we are monitoring and responding to Sam’s emails, and our Regatta Operations Manager Bec Lannan has taken over the key role in managing the upcoming State Coaches Conference, to be held on Saturday 14th September at the Lakes Hotel (as per her email last week).

I’ll keep you all updated and will provide more detail on the new/interim structure as soon as possible – please feel free to make contact me with me if you have any questions or concerns, and once again we thank Sam for his contribution to the development of rowing in SA over the past year.

Kind Regards,

David Hutton
